Location: The ship's protected mooring site is currently the South Bay Marina in Palacios, TX. Palacios Area Historical Association is working with the Matagorda County Historical Commission, Matagorda County Historical Society, Palacios Yacht Club, Palacios and Bay City Chambers of Commerce, Matagorda County Navigation District #1 and the City of Palacios including the City of Palacios Economic Development Corporation. The La Petite Belle will compliment the exhibits at the City by the Sea Museum in Palacios and the Matagorda County Museum in Bay City.
Construction: The construction was designed for low maintenance utilizing modern materials. The hull is fiberglass with decks and wood trim made of cedar, mahogany or pressure treated pine. All wood was coated with polyester resin before painting. Attachments of parts such as cleats, bollards, rails etc. were done with epoxy resin and stainless steel screws. The masts are welded aluminum. The mainmast and foremast are constructed as upper and lower assemblies and bolted together.
